I Have Expended Energy Poem by Francis Duggan

I Have Expended Energy

I have expended energy some might say wasted time
In putting words together and penning slipshod rhyme
And since i started scribbling I've penned a lot of stuff
And i like penning verses though my rhymes not good enough
For to be seen as poetry I'll never make the grade
Or be seen as a person who has learned the wordsmith trade
To rhyme it is so easy like cat will rhyme with rat
And Tony rhymes with pony and bat it rhymes with hat
But there's such a thing as metre and there's such a thing as style
And these things i have not mastered though I've been penning for some-while
And there's such a thing as blank verse a form of poetic prose
And such skills I'll never master such is life one must suppose
But a future without rhyming is a thing i don't foresee
And i will be penning verses whilst the breath of life is in me.
