I Just Didn't Know Poem by Ray Hansell

I Just Didn't Know

Will I live?
Or, will I die?
In the night
Is when I'd cry

Doctor's come in
Nurse's do to
They lay out
What they need to do

Five hours in surgery
Suspended in time
Not knowing if life
Would still be mine

All of a sudden without warning
My eyes shot open wide
The jubilation that I felt
I could not describe

Recovering to live some more
Knowing that I'll see tomorrow
Is a feeling like no other
To come out from under deaths shadow
