I Know You Shall Listen Not Poem by Sadiqullah Khan

I Know You Shall Listen Not

Ask me to sing the songs
In praise of that beauty
In broken half talk like
The child yet learning
Calling into the beauty
Of the universe when
The universe is just like
Composed of toys given
Breath by her imaginations

I shall sing your praises
With music you have never
Heard and with colors
Not seen by any human
The contours of your curves
When those hairs fall
On your face encircling
Red lips with glances
From the eyes that have
The power of magic

Tell me when you shall
Leave me in oblivion as I
After years and one morning
When you discover yourself
Before the mirror of beauty
I would not have said good bye
But I know when I not
My fault for the rest of time
A formality it was we knew

Did you think that much
About me or again
In my last moments I fell
Into deceptions of your love
I wished I had not said
Anything but just a walk away
Into my own life for a few
More songs of love
I know you shall listen not
