I Love You, I Love You Too. Poem by Nia Schexnider

I Love You, I Love You Too.

Rating: 5.0

I love you,

.................. I love you too,

Can I hug you?

..................... Yes,

Can I hold you?

..................... Yes,

Can I sit by you?

..................... Yes,

Will you hug me?

.................... Yes,

Will you hold me?

..................... Yes,

Will you sit by me

..................... As long as you aren't crying,

..................... As long as you are happy,

..................... As long as you are smiling,

..................... As long as you feel good.

Oh then your answer is no.

You can't throw away the little pieces of me you don't like.

I love you,

.............. I love you too.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Two persons speaking.... This poem is about what it is like to live with someone who is trying to fix you. Someone who doesn't see you as a companion but as a burden to carry. It's tough because when you need help/support mentally and emotionally, you have no options but to take it from those who are offering. When that person says they love you, you believe them, but when they say they love you under 'these circumstances', and you have no other support... you do what you have to do, and eventually if you are strong enough you will come out of the fog. You can break free from this cycle, from this love-hate relationship with your partner... and yourself.
