I'M Just A Person Poem by Francis Duggan

I'M Just A Person

I'm just a person who loves Nature just that alone and nothing more
A migrant far south of his homeplace just nine months short of the three score
Years on this Planet 240 Seasons of living in time
Some thirty years give or take a few beyond my life's physical prime.

'Twould seem I'm addicted to writing we all have our addictions 'twould seem
Though of being the World's wealthiest person of such I do never day-dream
Or of being the World's greatest sports person for to dream of such things I'm too old
When I am dead and gone forever my life story will not be told.

I live in awe of the wonders of Nature and from life we learn something each day
We learn from life and from Nature it took a wise person to say
That knowledge of life and of Nature is never a paper degree
'Tis true that we never stop learning or at least that's how 'twould seem to me.

I'm just a person who loves Nature though that is not a claim to fame
Just one more addictive poetaster and few have heard of me by name
My life's journey began in the forties by the old mountains far north of here
And every day I'm growing older and each hour to my last hour is near.
