I'M Not Tony Dungy! Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

I'M Not Tony Dungy!

I wonder why Tim Tebow, does not
Point thankfully up toward the sky,
Whenever he throws an interception,
Or has to punt after four failed tries?

But when ever he’s successful,
He gives thanks to who’s above.
I am certain he really means it,
For in his heart you can see love!

So I thought that I could give a try
When I win at playing solitaire!
After loosing so many many hands
I lift my arms into the air!

But I’m no Tony Dungy,
Whose legend lives forever more.
It’s him I’d like to imitate
Till I arrive on that brighter shore!

When his son lost his life one day,
Tony’s tribute made the nation cry.
He said “The Lord Gives and He Takes Away, ”
“And I’ll still serve Him until the day I die! ”

So whenever I play solitaire
I have to force myself to give thanks.
Not just whenever I am happy,
And more like Tony when I’m in the tank!

I am still more like Tim Tebow,
But hey that boy is blessed each day.
So I’ll strive to be a Tony Dungy,
Who I’ll follow as he leads the way!
