I Need My Rest (For Late Fr. Bismarque Dias) Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

I Need My Rest (For Late Fr. Bismarque Dias)

Your tears are my prayers
your grief is my grace;
my body thirsts for rest
I have gone to my eternal sleep.
I have read scriptures of God
I was a priest
and I will always be;
I have preached the word of God as long as I could
I have baptized infants when they were born
I have united those who each other loved
I have confessed the sinners
I have anointed the sick
I have used incense and buried the dead
when will you bury me?
I need my rest.
The scriptures I read, have declared
''dust unto dust thou shall return''
let me follow this
and unto my soul
I shall receive eternal peace;
on this earth I have lived
for this earth I have died
in the bosom of this earth
let me now rest;
your tears are my prayers
your grief is my grace.
