I Need Silence Poem by Edwina Reizer

I Need Silence

What could be better than silence
where no sound invades the quiet?
All the noises in this world
are enough to cause a riot.

The riot of mobs that scream and rant
And make a head to moan, .
The riot of politicians who lie everyday
with malice in their tone

I yearn sometimes to hear not a thing
Like the silent films of old.
I could make my home in a vacuum
And place all sounds on hold.

Even a minute of silence would help
to give my ears a break.
For each ensuing day that comes
is more than my ears can take.
