I Often Does Think Poem by Francis Duggan

I Often Does Think

I often does think of the people i will never more meet
Many of them live in Duhallow, Sliabh Luachraand Millstreet
And many from Duhallow and Sliabh Luachra live far away
Among the many migrants of Ireland as i am today
Since i have been absent of time quite a span
From where i lived as a boy and a younger man
On my balding head the hair no longer dark brown
Nowadays i would be a stranger to many west of Millstreet Town
The beauty of youth by time is stripped away
The young of the nineteen sixties showing their years in gray
And some of them where the deceased are now lay
Feel grateful to see the dawn of every day
And only the memories with me now remain
Of people i know but may not meet again.
