I Sat Like A Mountain Poem by Dr. Ramesh Chandra Mukhopadhyaya

I Sat Like A Mountain

Yesternight I sat like a mountain

wrapped in a blanket of darkness

The eye couldnot see anything

The ear could hear the sound of silence

And my head seemed to be drugged

deeply plunged in some sensation

undisturbed by the world of getting and spending

I felt a sense of totality where there were no words

When i awoke from the reverie

I learnt that I am a living entity

unlike the cot or sofa or the floor of the room

At once I was hungry

and I told myself that the room belongs to me
