I Started To Write A Card Poem by Gary James Smith

I Started To Write A Card

I Started To Write A Card

I started to write a card
But it took me sixty-six books
Just to say I love you
Yes...that's how many it really took
Thirty-nine in the old testament
And twenty-seven in the new
All interwoven together by the Spirit
Just to say I love you

But I still topped that off in grace
When I sent you my own dear Son
To exemplify my love for you
That's exactly what I've done
Your walk in darkness needed rectifying
I sent you the purest of Light
Who would deliver you from your sin
And from your darkest night

One little card would not suffice
So I thought again and took another look
Then I determined I had so much love for you
That I had to write a Book
It is reverenced by those who know me
Who've found that love is the way
The love of God in Jesus Christ
Is the true love I've sent your way

I trust this finds your acceptance
I couldn't think of any better thing to do
For Jesus Christ is my Crowning glory
And I know that He loves you too
With my whole heart have I sought thee
Remember...I'm the God of love
I have sent you a Saviour as my shower of blessing
To show you the power of love! ! !

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
