I Thought Of Love Poem by Biwot Kevin

I Thought Of Love

I thought of love
That had me of lately possessed
That my speech with flattery was dressed
That I shook when her form I embraced
That I thought I was favoured and blest
By an angel from above

I thought of bliss
That had covered with smiles my frame
That I’d have joy that none could tame
That I knelt with surrender her beauty to blame
For I now know I will never be the same
If her smile for a day I miss

I thought of this
Wasn’t she the one that conquered me
Barricaded, cloistered, that I had no space to flee
That I embraced jail, wishing never to be free
For her beauty would fill me with eternal glee
That did at her every cheer increase

I thought of the pain
That would across my flesh sweep
When away from like a deer she will leap
When I’ll pray to God to supply me with sleep
For even Somnus cannot chain this pain this deep
That have left many lifeless and slain
