I Use My Love For Hatred Poem by C Jay Caputo

I Use My Love For Hatred

I use my love for hatred
And put my faith in the faithless
I use my hate to crush my bones
Who am I now? I am faceless

You made me happier than I could have ever been on my own
I look for myself and find myself not being happy alone
It's from the unknown
You brought me the certainty that with you I'd always have a home

You break this promise that you only made to me
You had to break me, and that promise to be free
You promised me forever, that our love was stronger
You promised me forever, but you are mine no longer

You left me, so you could start
Using your brain, and not your heart
You left me so could start
Using your brain and not your heart
Even though it rips me apart
I support you and want you happy
And if I'm not what you need, I hope you find it eventually

I'll still pray for you, I'll still think
I'll still wonder, how you sleep
I'll still pray, and I'll still think
But never again, will I'll find peace
I need rest and I need sleep
I need you and I need us
You say how it sounds isn't how it seems
But now I only sleep with you in dreams
My lips are yearning for your face
My body's craving both your arms
I need my head set on your chest
I gave you all I had left
