I Wanna Live To Tell The Story Poem by Colette Dright

I Wanna Live To Tell The Story

You careless, reckless, inconsiderate person
You show no regard for human life, for another life, for even your life.

What's going on in your mind, peace is hard to find
Out in a club for ladies' night
You hear a loud noise, something just ain't right
This fool shooting his gun so loud
Just shooting random shots in the crowd
Now bodies in the morgue, dead in a corpse
You sit silent in jail feeling no remorse
None of this ssh… had to be
But yo dumb a.. went on a shooting spree
People out partying and just having fun
Their life suddenly over because of you and a gun
There was so much more they had to give
They wanted to tell the story
They too wanted to live

And it definitely isn't cool, to be shooting up in the schools
But you did it anyway, now their life is at an end
All because you mad no one wanted to be your friend
Young lives lost with so much to give
They wanted to tell the story
They too wanted to live

Sleep deprivation, then don't get behind the wheel
Dozed off and caused a crash, two people just got killed
You're in the hospital, yeah you'll be ok
But those people didn't make it home at the end of the day
This didn't have to be, so unfair to the world
A family lost a mother and her precious little girl
Their life was cut short and they still had much to give
They wanted to tell the story
They too wanted to live
Get you some rest before you drive
So everyone can get safely to where they want to arrive

Texting while driving is something you often do
So what you're saying is that you don't even care about you
And what if something happened to you
Now your family is affected too
Put that damn phone down, texting can wait
It's better to be safe than sorry than to be dead by 8

And let's talk about you, why do you drive and drink?
Is that something cool to do, is that what you really think?
You poppin' bottles having fun
Can't even count backwards from 10 to 1
I have a family, I have children, I have friends who love me so
Call an Uber or a Lyft to take you where you need to go
Man what's up with yo homey, you see what's going on
Don't let him get behind the wheel, take him safely to his home
I have so much left that I wanna give
I wanna live and tell the story, I too want to live

This is to bring awareness to the many lives lost due to senseless actions of others carelessness and irrational behavior.

Be responsible in your choices, choose to live and let others live.
Our story is for God's glory, let us all live to tell the story.
Thank You!
