I Want To Be Poem by Brian Stafford

I Want To Be

Rating: 5.0

I want to be the singer, not the song,
be the performer, don't get me wrong;

I want to be the player, not the play,
a thousand words or more, I'll have to say;

I want to be the artist, not the paint,
to paint your portrait, without constraint;

I want to be the apple, in your eye,
to make you laugh, not cry;

I want to be the icing on the cake;
to be with you for heaven's sake.
