I Wonder What The People Do See In Him Poem by Francis Duggan

I Wonder What The People Do See In Him

He seems so very popular with the voters yet I wonder what the voters in him see
Or could it be I'm a poor judge of people for he seems very ordinary to me
My next door neighbour is far wiser than him and my next door neighbour known to only few
And my next door neighbour not a politician but to a higher
principle he's true.

I wonder what the voters do see in him for in the polls 'twould seem he's riding high
He has the opposition where he wants them they cannot make inroads though hard they try
The opposition party leader is in trouble His party now looking for a new face
If in the public opinion polls he doesn't improve his ratings
as party leader him they will replace

The man who holds down the top job in the Country has won the majority of the voters unreserved approval seal
And though I see him as an ordinary fellow and one who does not have that much appeal
The majority of the people seem to like him and they voted for him on Election day
And for the opposition leader who too seems dull and boring
It's downhill to oblivion all the way.

I wonder what the people do see in him but having said that him I don't begrudge
And though I see him as a boring fellow of people I am not the finest judge
The opposition party is in tatters and the future of the opposition party leader is in doubt
And in politics as in life there's only room for winners and sad to say that's what it's all about.
