Identity Crisis Poem by Eugenijus Ališanka

Identity Crisis

who would I be if I were really
not as I am now a man
of an unknown faith my head by itself
god by himself the tongue of patches of language
would be a long-haul truck driver
would eat whatever think whatever
would sleep wherever with whomever
scenes would pass I would not shave
in a river or a snowdrift would rub
oily hands no feminisms
an advocate of patriarchal polygyny
so be it for one night
would read motor trend
no dreams no escapades of the unconscious
no intellectualized grunts about the meaning of being
owing no one owed by no one
would cross my life and europe by trailer
and you eat my dust

An insightful piece of poetry, well articulated and nicely brought forth in good diction with conviction. Thanks for sharing Eugenijus.
