If Ever I Could Poem by Sharon Peeples

If Ever I Could

If ever I could see your face
Or feel your presence near,
I'd need not wander through this place
Without your hand to steer.

If ever I could find the key
To turn the page of time,
I'd gather every memory
On which your echo dines.

If ever I could hear your voice
Or see your upturned smile,
'Twould be the dream I'd choose by choice
And feel the time worthwhile.

If ever I could happy be
Or ever cease to cry,
I'd loose my hold and set you free
Beneath an autumn sky.
