If God Were - Poem by Taha Kehar

If God Were -

Rating: 5.0

If God were blind
would he repent
not knowing the sight
of a lecherous hell?

If God were glum
would he concoct
a world teeming
with love and loss?

If God were distant
would he rebuff
each voiceless prayer
of aching despair?

If God were cruel
would he assist
a broken heart
out from a dark abyss?

If God were poor
would he despise
the scheming rich
who exhibit pride?
