If I Could Live Anywhere In Time Poem by Gabriella GabbyRo

If I Could Live Anywhere In Time

1904 is where I’d live,
To be there it’s anything I’d give!
Women in frilly Dresses and Men in fancy Suits,
Gossip at tea time with tarts made of fruits.
The Cars are all brand new,
But the servants still make stew!
He asks your Father for your hand,
A nice Diamond Ring makes Mother feel Grand!
Large Victorian homes,
Gardens hold roses but not gnomes.
Persians rugs and big floppy hats,
Cute lace doilies and fancy table mats.
Summer picnics and games of badminton,
Fancy winter coats and velvet mittens.
The boys tease girls with dead bugs that grew,
But hey, what else is new?
School dresses and teachers apples,
Chalk boards covered with chalk dust and dapples.
Mothers and women fight for equal rights,
But Grandma’s and Men say “Give up the fight! ”
Waistcoats and Pocket watches,
Cherubs, feathers, and corsets tied into lace notches.
Theodore Roosevelt was president; one of the best,
A war hero with stories of the Old West!
Marijuana and heroin were sold at the store,
Thank God it’s illegal to use anymore!
The U.S. flag had 45 stars,
The speed limit was 10 mph for a car.
Drinks not invented were beer and iced tea,
40% of adults couldn’t write or read!
1904 is where I’d like to be,
Rather than here in the 21st century!
