If I Had Not Knocked Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

If I Had Not Knocked

You did not know when I came to knock.
I came to give and not to take.
I came to share...
And to stay!
If you and I wanted it to happen that way.
And you would not have known that,
if I had not knocked.

If I had not knocked.
But I did.
And I am here.

I came because of you and your love.
And If I could not give it...
You and I would not be here with this need!
I came to give and not to take.
And I recognize your desires are mine as well.

If I had not knocked.
But I did.
And I am here.
