If I Was On A Mission To Impress Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

If I Was On A Mission To Impress

If my mission was to impress,
To effectively address a perceived ego...
Gone unidentified as an awareness.
With a labelling of being arrogant.
I certainly would not begin,
With a depiction of a forest others do not see...
Although walking through it to go unseen.
Nor would I mention with acknowledgment,
My familiarity with each kind of tree within it...
To call each one by name to express my respect for them.
If...
I 'was' on a mission to impress.
