If Only Poem by David Musoke

If Only

If only she would go
If only she would stay
Why does my mind wander in this land of lost thoughts
My strength fades as I thirst in this barren land
If only I could find a way
Tormenting voices echo in the dry land
Are these my forgotten thoughts I wonder
I journey to nowhere, if only I knew
Salvation is now but a lost thought
My only hope lies in a land beyond the horizon
The land of dreams, where lost thoughts sometimes take refugee
If only my strength doesn't fail me
If only the thirst for freedom doesn't kill me
If only she would go
The chains that bind me would be loosed, If only
There I lay in the land of the lost with no thoughts except one
If only
