If There Was No You Poem by Eloida Capuno

If There Was No You

Rating: 5.0

If you have not existed
and entered my world
of safe precautions
Maybe i have wilted
like the flowers
unattended and forsaken

If I have not seen your
smile that sent me to
dreamland a thousand times
I'd probably be an orphan
drenched in the pouring
rain, nowhere to run

If you have not caused me pain
I would not have known endurance
If you have not shown me how to
love i'd forever be adrift
to somewhere, lost as a lamb

There are endless possibilities
If you have not been around
Maybe I would still be a child
hungry for a mother's warmth
One thing I'm sure by now
If there was no you
I'm just a stone unturned
gathering moss all the while.
