If You Don'T Mind Poem by John McGuire

If You Don'T Mind

So what if the wit,
Falls short of it
I don't mind, some time's..
Expression, regression
Explanation, no hesitation,
Judged by me, judged by you
Clouded judgement,
Clouded judgement,
Is it me, think this through

Why here, why now
Work hard they say,
Play hard what may
Live to live
Love to love
What's the point
Won't figure out how

Come what may
Soon or past
Dim my light
I won't last
Fight again, fight the pain
On the road bare, I lay

To those who know
To those who don't
This hill gets steeper
Climb it once
Climb it again
Steeper and steeper

My mind can't cope
Isolation, strange motion
Backwards, then forwards
Backwards, towards
The get out clause,
Maybe time to pause

I want out,
It has to be easier
Life wasn't meant like this
Steeper and steeper
My mind keeps thinking
I love the grim reaper

Fight again, fight the pain
You're not going insane
Although sometimes…
Maybe it's plain
You used to be someone
Who gained and gained

I'm tired of knocks
Because if this is my lot
I've lost the plot
Pathways divided
Wrong routes decided
Decisions decisions
I'm out of clocks…
