If You Truly Love Him, Rejoice! Poem by Don Nguyen

If You Truly Love Him, Rejoice!

Before You die, You had said,
'Do not let your heart be troubled, have faith'
Your farewell sounded more like au-revoir,
For Love never died nor departed.
Then our hearts sank to the lowest level,
Together buried with You in a stranger's garden tomb.
Through all sweetest memories our minds combed,
Even those had long faded their sentimentals.
We cried and cried in deepest sorrows which turned hopelessness,
Where were those lovely Hands which held us firm and blessed?
O pierced Hands, by our own hands,
Our hearts broke into many profuse tears when we saw them again.
In loudest chorus we all exclaimed,
“Our Blessed Lord has risen indeed! '
Like entire heavenly bliss downpoured upon our midst.
We rejoiced, we hugged and we cried,
We wanted to tell our divine Savior millions times,
That we missed Him and we beheld these moments in our hearts.
But now again and again we encounter the Risen Lord,
We shrug our shoulders with indignant indifference;
We move on with our daily tasks at hand.
Joy has ceased with those endearing but old memories;
His Love story has become simply fairy tale or dull history.
Lenten season turns into a guilt trip, many want quickly to get off.
Sinners, where are your needs for loving and gratitude
Rekindle them to renew your spirits,
To deepen your love to the greatest Lover,
So that your hearts always rejoice
And Christian love once again become His triumphant witness.
