Sie schläft. O gieß ihr, Schlummer, geflügeltes
Balsamisch Leben über ihr sanftes Herz!
Aus Edens ungetrübter Quelle
Schöpfe den lichten, krystallnen Tropfen!

Und laß ihn, wo der Wange die Röth' entfloh,
Dort duftig hinthaun! Und du, o bessere,
Der Tugend und der Liebe Ruhe,
Grazie deines Olymps, bedecke

Mit deinem Fittig Cidli. Wie schlummert sie,
Wie stille! Schweig, o leisere Saite selbst!
Es welket dir dein Lorbersprößling,
Wenn aus dem Schlummer du Cidli lispelst!
