Battling depression
He tried with all his might
But he just lost the fight
Or was it an illness
One he thought he couldn't mend
And so actually he just chose his own end
For depression saps your energy and joy
Until it becomes less and less
Swallowed by feelings of emptiness
For how do you overcome that?
I'll tell you now it feels impossible
For there is nothing there to fill
And to just ignore it
Or concentrate on happy thoughts
Is not the advice that is sought
As a fellow sufferer
I would so so like to be hear
One day my symptoms will disappear
As although now they consume you
For they do wax and wane
And eventually you won't feel the same
Until then if it all hurts to much
Then call and I'll be there
Even just to stroke your hair
This illness is complex
And it cannot be fought
But treatment can be sought
For the symptoms can be improved
And overtime they may actually fade
But a cure can not just be made
So it can not be overcome just by will
But empathy can help us cope
And understanding can renew hope
