Images Of Fire Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Images Of Fire

On August 6,1945, Americans dropped an atomic bomb
on the Japanese City of Hiroshima. Over 250,000 died.
Three days later a second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki.

Flying one mile high
American B-29 bomber Enola Gay
Opens bomb doors over Hiroshima
Pilot Paul Tibbets becomes king of death.

Bomb
called 'Little Boy'
drops to earth.

Hell bursts asunder engulfing city
Blinding flash, searing heat wave
Mushroom cloud thousands of feet
Tongues of flames devouring life.
