Imagination, An Ice-Cube Poem by Kishore Kumar Das

Imagination, An Ice-Cube

Contrived imaginations
like building castles in the air
taking a positive cognizance
the bonhomie with the mind continues
for a while, you are in a King's style
riding high on the consequential pride
galloping in a white horse
on, on and out of sight....
At the other extreme
imagination of the ensuing danger
like the pitch black sky
hallucinations flooding the mind
the 'but' and 'if' syndrome
channelizing mind into a dark cave
light yet to be discovered
but then the reality dawns....
imagination is an ice-cube
it exists virtually
for a few minutes
after which
it melts
and falls into oblivion.
