In A Clinic Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

In A Clinic

Rating: 5.0

An aquarium
Some benches
And a heart-shaped clock
Hanging half way down
The wall of purple
And just above the door
Beside a flower vase a TV
Tuned to take your mind
For a while off gloom and dejection,
Moving silently
Towards nine
In a seemingly drowsy evening
And we were sitting
Occasionally staring at each other
Waiting to be called in
And when my turn came
I forgot what I was ailing from
I saw some going with breath
And came out breathless
And some with no breath
And came out full of breath
And that aquarium with rocks and plants
Watching fish swim back and forth
And the gurgling sound of the bubbles
And the colors of fish and backdrop
All but seemed I was beside the beach
And watching the waves roll on my feet
And the sound filled my ear with music
Of the rolling surf pounding the beach
As if my therapeutic
Yet I strolled in attending the query of doctor
"Sir, I forget yet I remember
In deep sleep I dreamed of dying
Of breathlessness and I woke up in panic
Only to find this world beside me
Weeping unconsolingly
Being inebriated of so much toxin
In soil, water and air"
"Oh my dear friend murmured the doctor
You forget you are resting
On the capital's bosom of your country"

Cont.... If you dig deeper into this marvelous piece, there are things that have been woven worth to ponder about. A thought provoking poem that conveys a meaningful message. A subtle satire on the condition of the country's capital with respect to its pollutiion problems. I liked this poem. How the great Poet has crafted it is just amazing. Brilliantly penned. Onto my Poem List.

What a beautiful poem. Wonderful and vivid depiction of a clinic. As if I was transported to that place where I am waiting to be called in by a physician.
