In Between For Food And Shelter Poem by Sourav K Dutta

In Between For Food And Shelter

Have taken ride on his rikshaw,
Once in a while, Yet
Never cared to know his life, though
Argued a many, for a rupee or two.

Luck has taken all from possession, Yet
He can sleep in peace.
He earns, Still lives a poor life.
Pulls the rikshaw with sweat, Still
Can't defeat the desire to drink.
He is wet in rain but not sick, But
Have cough from 'bidi'.

He has no respect from and for, But
Has his due to us.
He can't make is life better, But
Our's would worse without.

He had a life, in between
For food and shelter, Before
He pulled, but none left to spend, But
in front of our ride.
