In Her Own Image(For Scarlett) Poem by Dónall Dempsey

In Her Own Image(For Scarlett)

Rating: 5.0

Visiting a friend’s house
I suddenly

face to face
with a mouse

coming out of
the wainscoting
just like a cartoon.

“Oh, that’s...Jerry! ”
says Tom.

“I cut the hole
for him

so that he could have
a real mouse hole

You know
like you see in cartoons! ”

“You’re a real
Looney Tunes! ”

I tell her
for Tom is Tomasina

& an artist
who loves to make the world

exactly as she
sees it!
