In Humble Reliance On God We Rest Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

Sometimes we get to read behind
The lines of people's actions.
We sense the discord and we find
Why events end up in confusion.

In silent observation there
The Truth is clear and plain,
Self cunningly takes over -
And everything we do is....vain.

The need to impress seeps in
With the spirit of competition,
The goal becomes "We need to win! "
That's Pride, Self-exaltation.

That's why the Savior offered rest
He knew the human heart gets tired.
The race we run is not a contest
We're friends, not workers that He hired.

Rest makes us realize He is
The Source of this surpassing Power.
Apart from Him our work's amiss
And we all fall down with failure.

In humble reliance then we lean
On God Who moves in mighty ways.
In quietness and trust, we've seen
He is the Victor, always!
