In Life And Death Poem by Allyson Gordon

In Life And Death

Lying her again
Motionless, lifeless
I think I’m dead, but then
I see something in the darkness

It’s the shadow of the blade
It sinks into my skin
As I begin to fade
The pain seeps in

It flows right through me
Right down to my bones
The blood I start to see
All I hear is painful moans

The tears begin to flow
My body begins to shake
I lay sobbing on my pillow
My heart starts to break

I want to leave this place
I just want to let go
But then I see your face
You’re telling me “no”

I promised I wouldn’t leave you
No matter how much I want to die
I have to keep my word and be true
Because you’re the reason I try
