In Love Alone Poem by bob barci

In Love Alone

I don't really recall exactly how we said our first hellos,
but there you were,
running down the street with me,
from 'The Sting' at the Paramount,
to 'Sinbad' at the Latchis,
and getting hyper on HoJo's coffee.

You made me feel alive.
Frequently, I was oblivious to everyone else around us.
Now that we're physically far apart,
mentally you're still with me,
and we're driving to the 24hr. gas station for munchies at 3 a.m..

All I have are my memories of you.
Do you think of me as often I do you?
In love alone, is what I am.
Maybe I should have come right out and told you at the start,
but there never seemed to be the right time or place
and you always seemed to end up with someone else.
I had so much anger to let out,
but you know me, my anger stays within.
So many times of sunny days the rain began
because I thought you were playing with me.
So many times I wanted you to stay with me.
To find a way to talk to you was difficult for me.
My nature leaves me on the sidelines
not knowing what to do or say.
Through my own fault, I'll always be,
in love, alone.
