In Memoriam Haiku Poems Poem by Pamela Wise

In Memoriam Haiku Poems

Ebony- night sky
Stars in a vast universe
Never touch my thoughts.
_________________________

Clouds floating so high -
They carry my painful thoughts
Away from this world.

_________________________

Love is a mountain.
Peeks of confusion and doubt
Live at the Bottom
__________________________

My mother is gone.
I sit by the flowing stream.
With rain in my heart.
__________________________

When will you return?
I see your face everywhere.
It blows in the wind.
__________________________

Like rain to the trees,
Love is to the human heart -
Perpetual growth.
__________________________

Thunder in my heart
Erupts in moments of pain -
Sudden emptiness.

__________________________

A gentle stream flows
Over and under the rocks.
Memories of love.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My mother's death was a horrible shock for me in Spring 2010. I lost my very best friend and confidante whom I treasured so much as her only daughter and child. I would go to this waterfall near my home and literally grieve by the stream opposite this waterfall. I wanted to be alone; yet, also out in nature. I wanted privacy and usually received this. I have a fascination with water in general and am very attracted by it. The Haikus written here are not typical per se; they are of a more personal nature for ME and my grieving, rather than paying tribute to the true form and style itself. I only kept the syllabic requirement for the most part. I also wrote a sonnet for her but I can't locate it. I have a few more as well which were written in Aug.2010 and Oct.2010. These poems are but a mustard seed glimpse of the anguish I experienced over her death.

Comment on the Poet's Notes: Thanks for the notes, these help one understand your mood when you wrote the Haikus. Comment on the poems: These reflect your thoughts so well. I like the 5th,6th and the 8th, particularly.
