In My Dream Poem by Mary Amrutha

In My Dream

Rating: 2.8

Feeling so relaxed
like sleeping in a cradle.
Cradle of your love
love to hear
you sing that song,
your lullaby.
My heart beats for your love
but this happens only in my dreams
a dream that I don't want to
wake from...

I love you Amma

We have to be grateful for dreams, because they do spill out of sleep into our daily lives. Your poem shows that a dream can nourish someone because it brings relaxation, peace, fulfillment - that's a three-word progression of positive feelings. I like the memory of someone close to you singing a familiar song - a lullaby. That's lovely. It's too bad the memory couldn't be real. At the end of the poem it seems only the dream is real. Does the big open space between the last line and your name represent the world of sleep? I took it that way: a detail of visual poetry!

Amrutha, this is one of the beautiful simple pieces I have read from your collection. It is short but able to convey the feeling of pain which I failed to see in the first place. I am dearly sorry. Well done.

I am not certain if this poem centers around impossible love. If it is then I would say that impossible love is one of the painfull things about love. You see the one you love nearby but in your heart you know that you can never have him/her. To be honest I have gone through such experience before. It's very painfull, trust me.
