In Old Age/A Friend Means So Much

In old age
A friend means so much
Someone to talk with
To walk with
Someone to share the past and present with
Someone who is still here
Unlike so many other friends-

Someone simply to be with
Against the too long alone
Of the often too long day
And too long night
Someone to make you feel
That you still are of value
And still mean something somehow
Someone who makes it bearable and better
For you to still go on.
