In Salvador Poem by L.B. Temuco

In Salvador

You rise from the sand
like roots spreading themselves
from an eternal tree
from the reef
through the sea grass
you came
Your body exotic, wet and swollen
bursts like a fruit
crimson medusae
your belly moves in pleasure
in Salvador
dissolving the land
To be with you alllllllllllllll night
a coral child bathes
in the sweetness of tears
you have a daughter now
I feel your fingers in her small hands
your eyes are immortal in her gaze
my heart is a child laughing
There is always a picture
that floats in the estuary of your eyes
it carries all that I have salvaged
all your dark wordless presence
How can so much pleasure flourish here
in the shallows of my age
To be with you allllllllllllllll night
Always the waves come, breaking
and then receding
the trembling sides of your mouth, hot tides
I feel the sky opening my chest
its blue blade bleeds
a silk wind caresses my heart.
