In The Era Of A War Poem by Obed dela Cruz

In The Era Of A War

In the era of a war
Between, there’s no rich or poor.
Men can do a woman’s work.
Women can do a man’s work.

There’s no pride we can boast of
The weak and strong should be tough.
Sometimes, there’s a need to hide
To feel the safety inside.

There’s no time to beautify
If anytime you may die.
None of the earthly riches
Can be called as great treasures.

Yes, fears may exist deep down
But when you fight for a crown
That can be shared to others,
Then you must neglect those fears.

Not a sword but a sharp knife
Is used to protect one’s life.
Not a rifle but a pen
Can destroy the opponent.

Sometimes you just need small things
To destroy bigger things.
Sometimes it is just a hand
That can liberate a land.

Know that it is foolishness
To distract and do nonsense.
Know that in order to win,
You should do the thing you mean.

These things you must bear in mind
That you may now leave behind
The things not that important
So that our “fall” we may prevent.

Only from God Almighty
Comes the tasty victory.
Only to God we must call
To prevent the bad downfall.

My fellow human being,
I hope you have this feeling
To be tough and to be more
So, live a life with honor.
