In The Glass Poem by Jo Lynn Ehnes

In The Glass

I stood there naked
Filled with doubt
Ashamed of what
The mirror held
For years of torment
Left a wound
Destructive to
My inner self

But then your presence
Touched my life
Embraced the woman
Standing there
Your gentle ways
Seduced my heart
Your whispers
Lit desires within

You spoke of
Loveliness inside
And how you saw
The depth of me
Which laid beyond
The image seen
Embedded in
My loving soul

That's when you
Stroked my outer shell
And showed me beauty
Laid there too
Now when I stare
Into the glass
I smile in peace
At what I see
