In The Long Run Poem by Da'Vetta Hayes

In The Long Run

Alone and lost without a passion of regret
through a dusty window do I cry

Injured for the delight of others through
the broken ribs in my side

Do you not see the pain you have caused
for me to bear

The final test of my fate is held within your grasp
of sadness and despair

In due time will I rise up from the depths
to claim my road

I will be the master of my destiny to know
what my future will hold

Since you own me for now go on and
tear my pride

I curl up whilst you torment me in fear
and on the inside

But in the long run I will look back
and see the torment you've given me

and laugh at the fact you have never
broken my spirit because now I am Free
