In The Night Time's Darkness Poem by Edwina Reizer

In The Night Time's Darkness

In the night time's darkness
my eyelids will not close.
Is this how they shall find me
in death's unfriendly pose?
Is it not better to leave this life
with eyelids closed up tight?
For then and only then, my love
will you be gone from my sight.

In the night time's darkness
my eyes stare into space.
Is this how they shall find me
with blankness on my face?
Is it not better they find me
with a smile left behind?
For then and only then, my love
will they know you were on my mind.
