Indian Gluttons, Deshi Gluttons Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Indian Gluttons, Deshi Gluttons

You have not seen,
Indian gluttons,
Deshi gluttons,
Rural, native, local gluttons
Waiting for child birth, marriage, funeral feasts,
Keeping hungry for, thirsty for the day to come to
And making his tryst with as thus
In competition while taking food,
Challenging the compatriots to be in
As for who can beat more,
One sweetmeat after another,
One oil-fried small bread, puri after another
Betting and coaxing and hoaxing
Doing danda-baithaka, sit-ups
To beat it again.

N.B. I saw him in erstwhile Bihar inclusive of Jharkhand.
