I wanted to read
But they expected me to plead
I wanted to fly
But they clipped my wings
I was proud in my colour
But they bought me fairness creams
I insisted on my content
But they insisted on my 'package'
I wanted to cry
But they never allowed me; lest I become less male
I shouted my name
But they never heard it; they were interested only in my surname
I wanted them to look at my eyes
But they checked whether I wore Nike or Adidas
I dislike seeing them
But they come to me as uninvited guests in my thoughts, sleeps and dreams
I wanted to resist
But they are more and am alone
I am Nothing, They are Everything
Yes, I agree
But this Nothing constitutes that Everything
They forget it.

I would like to translate this poem
nicely expressed, especially the nike adidas line. I guess these days with social media this problem of seeking status is even more prevalent. maybe we need some 'anti-social' media for voicing unpopular opinions to counter the influence of social media.
