Inseparable Poem by Bishnupada Sethi

Inseparable

It was the other day-
At very early in the morning
Much before the rise of Sun
I woke up hearing
The sounds of someone sobbing
And discovered to my dismay
My daughter standing by bedside.
She was insisting-
I must go to the hospital
And have my routine check up
To know if I was fine.

I pondered
While urging her to tell
What's caused her to get up so early
And the reason for discomfort!

She broke down
While narrating
What she just dreamt of
A little while ago!

Sometime like around this hour
I was lying still
Surrounded by many.
A sense of tranquil
A deafening awry silence
The billowing of smoke from incense sticks
Made her realize-
Her dear father was no more.
While lamenting she was telling
"Grandma took my father away."

It was only a few days ago
She had faced a harrowing time
At the sudden passing away of grandma.
She was aware-
How much deeply as a mother
Her grandma used to love her son
And therefore she felt
The two are inseparable even at death!
At her subconscious
The streams of thoughts were brimming.

Looking at the rainbow on the western sky
I felt a strong bonding
Through a thick chord of love
Spanning from my daughter
Now distressed and dazed
To a mother who has crossed
The boundary of her earthly existence.
Inseparable, we indeed, are so much!
