Inside The Veil Poem by Carla Murray

Inside The Veil

Inside shadows and crevices live memories
Some live inside a veil
Some jump out and capture me in talons
While others scratch the surface reminding me they remain

Lingering, waiting to be uncovered and remembered

Beyond my consciousness they live
Inside my emotions
Full of colors of red and sometimes black
But mostly shades of gray

Lingering, waiting to be uncovered and remembered

And I wait, patiently as to not hurry them
Sometimes with tension and trepidation
As they cloud my mind in a place so familiar
Yet so strange to others

Lingering, waiting to be uncovered and remembered

And as I let go of control
I struggle, grasping at another world
Being pulled to and fro
And slowly they slip away, falling on the floor between us

And I release them and finally remember

Letting go
