Insomnia Poem by Rachael Clarke

Insomnia

Stuck between the lines of sleep and pain
Your mind becomes a tangle of words and games
Somewhere in the ether is a place of peace
Of soft serenity and anger falling far away
Piece by broken piece.

In the shadows drift a thousand thoughts
Of sad society and empty corridors
That keep you sheltered from the driving rain
But steal your soul and trap your mind
And there you will remain.

But look, there is a doorway to the light
An opening, a chance to feel the night in all her beauty
Filling you with sweet exhilaration
Like a sound upon the waves of time
Forever in your mind.
