Mysterious is Nature
Mysterious her ways
Seen sometimes putting on
Robes fresh and green
And sometimes brown
Unfolding flowers at morn
Now with dews of eve
Shrivel them as day is done

Sometimes in abundance
Sometimes in meagerness
And earth is seen undone
When famine-like monster
Robes her of her richness
Once in a nation it so happened
That land struck barren and fruitless
To fight the famine
People left with no grain
Melted down thence
The heart of a rich man

Under the pang of famine
Children flocked
To the rich man's house
To get loaves of bread
And he acted with benevolence
But people fought
Amongst themselves
Struggled hard to get crumb or crust
But a little girl
Nor struggled nor fought
Waited for her turn

And got the smallest loaf at last
Returned happy and content
To her surprise
When she cut it
She found two cents in it
Went back at once to return it
Being surprised and pleased
At her honesty
The rich man gave her
Two cents more as a reward
Like patience brings its own reward….

Yes, patience can bring in unexpected dividends and people who are honest in small things will be trusted to undertake great things! Like two birds in one shot, you have come out with two strong messages in a single poem! Enjoyed it Deepak!

A catchy title. Honesty is the best policy. Keep it up.
